ORNAMENTATION
Ornament was once being forgotten and stopped used because of its wasted labours , materials and times. Stated by Adolf Loos, “ THE EVOLUTION OF CULTURE IS SYNONYMOUS WITH THE REMOVAL OF ORNAMENT FROM UTILITARIAN OBJECTS ”, ideology of Modernism once rejected the supposed decadence and wastefulness of the mass production of ornament, it is indisputable that over the past ten years entirely new construction and manufacturing processes have made the return of ornament economically viable.
However, architects nowadays begin to explore, what is the important of ornament and how it give advantages to the society. As the time flies, ornamentation was reused back in the contemporary architecture in 21st century. Ornament takes a big roles in modern architecture is because it was an important language that communicates both architecture with a broader public and each remove puts another degree of separation between the profession and the public. Ornament is also important in embellish the modern architectural building in order to allow the specific building be acknowledge by the people from all around world.
Ornament is widely used for most of the religion places such as Christian’s church or Chinese’s temples and shrines. The purpose of using ornament in such places is to dedicate the local cultural and moral values for the next generations. The sculptures and the ornamentation can greatly used to explain the meaning of the religions or the untold stories of our ancestors . For example, the colourful window ornaments of a church represents lots of meaning for the Christian and the ornamentation all around the Chinese temple is to represents the respect of peoples for the deities.
Ornament in architecture nowadays represents various tasks ,not only an aesthetic decoration ,but also in environmental and technological way. For an example, the Ministry of culture in Paris. Ornament was being used according to cover up the unnecessary part of building, as it is a combination of two existing old building. A continuous mesh of steel lace wrapped up these two building, covering up two different architectural type building, showing a nice , same language way outlook .The steel meshes are all framed, similar to each other, and they respond to the windows of the original buildings.
Besides , ornamentation is also a kind of artistic task for architects to express out the feelings and expressions of the particular buildings. True that ornament is a useless decoration which only increase the wasted money in building construction but if a building was built without its own meaning or any expression it will be count as a useless building. So in other words , by using the gorgeous of the ornamentation we could really implant the true meaning of the buildings and as for it will be one of the kind where others can’t replace its position. By using the ornament we can also gracefully improve the environmental condition of the countries where the combination of the simplicity of modern building with the luxury ornamentation occurred.

As for conclusion, i personally think that ornamentation not only predominant in one aspect but in more others aspects that can improve the condition of buildings. Ornament in architecture can be seen much like fashion in clothing. For just we can argue the aesthetics and quality of fashion ; argue the attractiveness and appropriate application of ornament, but we cannot argue that there is no ornament, or that it is a crime. It is a necessity, and architecture, without ornament, is not. True that using of ornamentation is quite a huge consumes in all elements in order to get a higher qualities but the outcome will be out of the expectation.
