PROPORTION AND ORGANISATION
Contemporary architecture has took important consideration of porportion and organisation in deisgn. Both considerations can affect the quality of building including visualisation and feeling from human.
Before we know design wee need to deeply understand the definition of proportion and organisation in architecture today.
PROPORTION
- GOLDEN RATIO
ORGANISATION
-SPACE PLANNING
Proportion is a central principle of architectural theory and an important connection between mathematics and art. It is the visual effect of the relationships of the various objects and spaces that make up a structure to one another and to the whole. These relationships are often governed by multiples of a standard unit of length known as a "module".
In architecture we are looking for the proportional relationship between spaces and the size of the human body. Proportion in architecture was discussed by Vitruvius, Alberti, Andrea Palladio and Le Corbusier among others.
The clubhouse is located on one side of a river in Yancheng, The design therefore takes Mies’ Farnsworth as a prototype concept and creates a new form through a series of actions on it: stretch, loop, and fold. These actions lead to following results: smaller building depth with better views, introversive courtyard space offering more privacy, getting closer to water and accessible roof as extension of landscape. The transparency dematerializes architecture. The concern to physical form of building is replaced by desire to create flowing and see-through space to maximize visitors’ experience of natural environment outside.
Responding to the horizontal feature of surrounding landscape and trees in site, the building is made into a linear and folded form.
From the observation from floor plan , the space divided into two categories, which is private and public. Due to the common demand the public space occupy the certain multiple by the private space. The word "certain multiple" is used because the private space is directly reduce by area from public space but the form remain. This is a good example of playing proportion and function in architecture.
Organizational architecture has two very different meanings. In one sense it literally refers to the organization's built environment and in another sense it refers to architecture metaphorically, as a structure which fleshes out the organizations.
Organizational architecture or organizational space: the influence of the spatial environment on humans in and around organizations.
Organizational space describes the influence of the spatial environment on the health, the mind, and the behavior of humans in and around organizations It is an area of research in which interdisciplinarity is a central perspective. It draws from management, organization and architecture added with knowledge from, for instance, environmental psychology, social medicine, or spatial science. In essence, it may be regarded as a special field of expertise of organization studies and change management (people) applied to architecture. This perspective on organizational architecture is elaborated in organizational space.
Organizational architecture or organization design: the creation of roles, processes, and formal reporting relationships in an organization.
Organization design or architecture of an organization as a metaphor provides the framework through which an organization aims to realize its core qualities as specified in its vision statement. It provides the infrastructure into which business processes are deployed and ensures that the organization's core qualities are realized across the business processes deployed within the organization. In this way organizations aim to consistently realize their core qualities across the services they offer to their clients
In my opinion proportion and organisation of a building will be the factors that affect the quality of human daily life,so i think they are necessary for human habitation . the proportion of various soac in a building must be distribute nicely and reasonable. For an example, the area of living room must be bigger than the are of kitchen, since living room serve as the function of family gathering or guest welcoming space; in another hand, kitchen is only served the purpose of cooking and prepare meal , it is not necessary to have a bigger area than living room.
The organisation of a building is also important , since it directly affect the circulation of the building. Before architect design a building with an awesome form , they must pretty organize the location of space in the building which serve the easy and comfortable circulation for client. For an exmaple , people would likely to entry their house and see their family instantly , so living room are normally connect with the main entrance. Every little factors will affect the quality of the building , proportion and organisation are some of them . If these two factors well controlling by architects during design a building , a high quality building will exist. And this is a aim for architecutre , isn't it ?
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, a building with putting the principle of proportion and organisation, it will automatically and satisfically attracted by client. When these two priciples has applied in design, even though the form was not so fantastic , but the quality of the building exists.
