FORM AND FUNCTION
The subject of "form and function" is regularly being examined and discussed again and again throughout architecture pstudies and despite the fact that when working in genuine industry. Things being what they are, what is the importance of "form" and "function" in architecture today and what are the connections between them?
According to the articles I have read what I understand about the concept of form in architecture is shape or configuration of a building. Based on what Louis Sullivan said “all things in nature have a shape, that is to say, a form, an outward semblance, that tells us what they are, that distinguishes them from ourselves and from each other”, which means the type of each and every building assumes a vital part in light of the fact that the shape gives the early introduction to the clients and it can draw in and incite human visual sensation in view of its outside frame. Form tells individuals what the structures are and the attributes of it without entering the space.
In another hand, every philosopher has different perspective on the meaning of function. In my opinion, functions is a building or a space is well said as in view of the motivation behind it, none of the space is being disregarded or squandered being used , involves perplexity and contention inside the calling, especially with respect to current architecture. Thus, I think that form follows function or function follow forms are actually exists as a flow rather than a causal relationship.
FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION
Independent form
Generation of form according to the requirement of the higher functional need and primary functional need
Dependent form:
A typical hut in outskirts of its form is dependent upon the external surroundings. Being in very less temperature zone, it’s of four sided enclosed form and of cold resisting building materials.
FUNCTION FOLLOWS FORM
The urban landscape nowadays is created in different form with modern materials which can widely see. The different design of the furniture can created different kind of human behavior.
However, new utilization, advancements and materials do change the connection between them, either make this relationship turn around, or make these two terms detached with every others. For example, when new construction technologies and materials applied on the fencing. Fencing is formed to marking boundaries; provide features of frame around property to provide security to the user. It also formed up a space. As time passes, the function of the surrounding changed, the residential are slowly changing into commercial area or etc. The function of the fencing change as well. It acts as decoration to attract people, or furthermore. It no longer designed in a closed form, but also in open fence by using different materials to indicate different feelings or function. Another example is the roof, the roof no longer just function as a protection from sun and rain, once the roof form has changed. It can be turned into roof top garden for public use and also can be a huge ramp which connected to the ground floor in some large community projects.

To conclude, no matter “form follows function” or “function follows form”, the connection between them is as yet entwined.
