Nowadays , Kuantan has a lot of his work and his client was almost satisfy on his work, because he always do something that beyond client's expectation especially building design.

Today, I was glad when I had a chance to attend his talk. During the talks, he said about the principle of his design. Simplicity, has come out ot to his mind when design the building ,no matter the materials it used , the facade , or the function of the
space, is all about simplicity. He also share the experience when designing the guest house which known as "Sila Lima" , which located at Kuantan. THe original idea of the guest house was the space be cut like in jungle. However , the idea he advocated was banned by the client. Although the idea be banned , Mr. Ismail didn't change the design of the building.
As he said , as a designer, you couldn't change your idea or abondon your design just because of the client feeling, Architect is not only designing a house that suit for the requirement of client, they should be able to persuade client with the idea to client.So, the idea is actually for convincing other in the guest house.
This guest house is actually for business purpose, so the attraction of the facade of the guest house must be strong. The design of the fencing is interesting , and this design is like the significant logo of Mr Ismail. The whole fencing is actually built by concrete, and there is no void to look through inside infront of the building.
It create a simple wall as he wish, and simplicity is actually welcomed in contemporary architecture. However, this is not only just a flat fencing with one material. The fencing is actually arranged by few unit block of concrete in different row, so there is a void between each unit, but it couldn't be seen infront of the building just like the picture be shown above.
One of the element in his design was attracted me, which is the door. The height of the door had reached all the way to the ceiling, just like a movable wall.The door create with a feeling without any waste in space planning. Some of the door design would actually block the view or the pathway of human, but the door that Mr. Ismail always apply in his design could solve the problem. In sila lima, this kind of door create a privacy for people but also
enjoy the landscape view inside the unit. Not only "Sila Lima", "nr Next Courtyart HOuse" which is his other project also apply this kind of door.
